‘Just one more slice of cake to celebrate, Percy?’
Mum and I are very chuffed to be appearing at Imagine Children’s Festival on the Southbank, on Thursday February 20th at 11am. We shall be chatting about Dixie O’Day in The Fast Lane, and while Mum reads a gripping instalment from the book I shall be doing some live-drawing.
The model car will be on show, too – with a specially packed hamper for the occasion!
Do come along to say hello – it’ll be lots of fun, a sunny half term treat.
I can also now share a lovely piece of news I’ve been keeping under my tea cosy for a little while.
Dixie O’Day in The Fast Lane has been chosen to be part of the for the Booktrust Read for My School campaign.
It’s a huge honour, and really fabulous to know we are on board with this celebration of reading, encouraging children to embark on a lifelong love affair with books.
that cake stand and civilised scene from the dining room of the Hotel Splendide makes me a. v v impatient for July and b. v v keen to go there for an off season weekend break there NOW (although expect I’d find pianist and ‘full’ tea only available in the Summer months and have to make do with piped muzak and a stale scone in January)
Thank you for the thumbs up for the new Dixie adventure in the summer!
Worry not. If you’ve been collecting the vouchers in the Didsworth Daily you can indeed claim your cut-price luxury winter weekend at the Hotel Splendide. The cake stands will be well-stocked and the fox is standing by at the piano, warming up with a few Frank Sinatra numbers…
That’s very reassuring. I hope there are chocolates on your pillow each night too?
Oh yes, there’s always a chocolate on your pillow, I just hope to goodness it hasn’t been half-nibbled by the maid.
Also, a terrifically skilled mouse has just started as the cocktail waiter: look out for him rushing across the lobby carrying a tray.
