We were lucky enough to see the last night of PETER AND ALICE on Saturday – seats as tricky to get hold of as a Willy Wonka golden ticket.
It’s about Peter Llewelyn Davies as a tragic grown man but immortalised forever as Peter Pan, and Alice Liddell Hargreaves as an old woman, the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland, and a fictionalised account of a meeting between them.
Loss, death, sadness. Exquisite and heart-breaking.
But,
when my daughter Martha said that surely she too should be in this story, immortalised forever as bunny Martha with a long-eared shadow casting a terrible blight over her whole life, I laughed and laughed all the way home.
Ha! Do you call her you ‘little bunny’ too? 😉
I certainly DO.
The problem arises if I’m trying to differentiate. I could call say MY Martha – but which is that? Or REAL Martha (they are both real to me) or HUMAN Martha (a weird way to describe a daughter)…
So I settled on Long Ears Martha and Short Ears Martha – that way it’s very clear!
