so squeaky, so bubbly!
A hush, a drum roll, a gasp and applause…
allow me to present this adorable duo and magical dream team Bubble and Squeak, stars of a brand new picture book published in May 2013 by Orchard Books.
It’s written by James Mayhew and illustrated by me – something of a dream team too I think…
And here’s Bubble,
star of Mr Magnifico’s travelling theatre show.
Crowds come from far and wide to see her spectacular performance.
But at the end of the evening, in her carriage, Bubble is oh so lonely and longs for a friend.
But what’s that – a tiny squeaking and a rustling behind the bonbons?
Hurry over to visit James and find out!
So squeaky, so bubbly and so adorable 🙂
Thank you so much for calling by, Catherine, and for your kind comment! I’m certainly feeling very squeaky and bubbly with excitement, waiting in the wings for the show to truly begin…
How lucky I am to have had the chance to collaborate with such a wonderful artist. Hurrah for dream-teams!
Tis me who is the lucky one. Thank you for this story, James, it has been such a joy – and just a beginning: I can’t wait to take it *out on the road*, and also see what adventures they get up to next!
ohhh this looks FAB! REally looking forward to reading it!!
Thanks so much, Jo! I so hope H enjoys it – and will be able to come along to one of the events James and I have planned, too. He is something of an expert in putting on a sparkly show!
This is very much a piece of news that is helping my jet lagged eyes pop wide open with no need of cocktail sticks. Hurray and Huzzah- they DO look delicious.
YOUR’E BACK – hooray! I missed you – please return to twitter and entertain me immediately…
very glad you approve of these two.
Hooray for Bubble & Squeak! Is it May yet, pleeeease?
Thank you, Helen – I WISH it was! Now Bubble and Squeak (and me and James) will have to go back behind the curtain and wait impatiently…
I just hope we can entertain you with extra peeks until then!
How lovely! Can’t wait to read it.
Thank you so much, Keris – I can’t wait to put a copy into your hands! X
Oh yes, oh yes! I’ve been waiting for Bubble and Squeak to make their entrance 🙂 You and James make a dream team – can’t wait to see the finished book!
Hello Zoe, what a cheering comment!
I know you are a James fan – I am too… we influenced each other in the writing and the illustrating – it truly is woven together so you can’t see the join, which is an usual way to work but we love it!
I’m bubbling and squeaking in excitement here! Thinking of mouse/elephant friendships, do you know the wonderful ‘Mouse and Elephant’ by An Vrombaut?
Thank you for your bubbling and squeaking, Elli – that’s lovely!
No I don’t know it, but will be seeking it out immediately. As animals they certainly are an appealing duo.
I certainly did miss this earlier! What a wonderful picture book this is going to be. Can’t wait! X
Thank you so much, Jo, for calling by and for your lovely comment! I very much look forward to showing you more! And to working with you during this year, too. X
I found your site whilst looking to see if there were any more ‘Martha and the Bunny Brothers’ book – my little one is called Martha and is a tad obsessed – I think I can quote I Heart School with my eyes closed! Anyway, looks like I’m out of luck on that front, but Bubble and Squeak look so cute – I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for the book in May!
Hello Ruth and Martha, thank you so much for calling by!
I’m so happy to hear that your Martha is enjoying my Martha (it’s my daughter’s name too – I think we can agree that all the best people are a Martha…)
In fact there IS another Martha and the Bunny Brothers story, coming out in March, called I Heart Bedtime:

– and I also have a little Happy Bunny Club, I’ll email you the details…X
this looks gorgeous – am loving the colours, looks rather 50s retro.
Hello Jo, thank you so much for visiting and for your kind comment!
I’m especially delighted that your like the retro colour palette – that was exactly the reaction I was most hoping for. X
