and (less rare) chances to see me too!
A couple of dates for your diary…
My Mum doesn’t do many public appearances these days, so it’s extra special that she’s talking at The Soho Festival next Saturday September 29th, at 12 noon. She will be in conversation with my brother (journalist Ed Vulliamy) and me, but we promise not to chat too much as she is definitely the star of the show. I think there will be lots of good stories and plenty of laughs.
I’m looking forward to it very much! Maybe see you there?
Then, on Friday October 5th, Mum and I will be taking part in The National Portrait Gallery Late Shift, between 6 and 7pm. We’re going to be talking about drawing faces, particularly in childrens books, with some demonstrations and games to join in with. No skills necessary, just for the fun of it and free. Do call by and say hello if you can!
I booked my ticket online to come along & join you as soon as I could! It will not only be lovely to see & listen to your lovely Mum, Shirley Hughes but to see her chatting with her family at The Soho Festival and meeting you too will be just fab! Looking forward to it very much, hope you all have great fun! Lucy
Hello Lucy, what a lovely message! Thank you so much, for calling by and for coming along on Saturday. I’m so looking forward to meeting you at last!
If it’s anything like our family chats around the parental kitchen table, it should be a fine event – if a little chaotic!
