Only two days to go now until the Pop-Up Festival of Stories weekend of spectacular events!

I’m in the very brilliant James Mayhew’s gang, something of an expert in amazing events for children, working in his Pop-Up Picture Pavilion on Sunday July the 1st, from noon until 6pm. We will be making HUGE collaborative artworks with the children who drop by – it’s all free and it will all be tremendous fun…
You can have a peak at what he’s been up to here, and here he is introducing his team: Vanessa Stone and me!

James and I have been wrestling with pieces of board as big as a bed. I don’t except anyone to find this interesting, but it was a eureka moment when I managed to HINGE mine so I can pop it in the back of my car – YIPPEE!

In my corner we will be doing something inspired by Rousseau’s jungle paintings.

So I’ve been gathering loads of animal references, making templates…

piling up the exotic colours and all there materials we’ll need…

and having a little practice.

All we need now are lots and lots of small artists to pop up with us!

Why not follow @mayhewjames and @PopUpFestival on twitter to join in with our last-minute panicking – no sorry I mean calm preparations…
