Bunny Hug Day is a celebration in response to @smilinglikesuns – my sunny counterpart in the blogosphere! She posted a very lovely and touching review of Martha and the Bunny Brothers I heart School, which you can read on Smiling Like Sunshine here. It especially picked up on the affection between siblings in the book, which I was so pleased about, as it’s truly at the heart of the story.
So – get your hugging arms limbered up and hop on over to the Happy Bunny Club page here!
Fantastic! I often get (suffer from?) a combination of the ‘goodnight hug’ and ‘don’t let go’ hug, to which can be added a ‘read [insert name of bedtime story] it AGAIN!’ hug. Normally when I’ve read it four times every night for the past week and it’s already past bedtime. But of course EVEN those hugs are rather lovely too.
Thanks so much Elli – excellent addition there from a seasoned huggee…
ah, the ‘read it AGAIN!’ hug: all lovely and maddening rolled into one!
Later there’s the ‘no hugs in public’ rule, but thankfully that doesn’t last, then there’s the small mum and strapping big kids hug – that’s a GOOD one…
Oh yes, I DEFINITELY get ‘no hugs in public (or anywhere else)’ from Child1 – in fact I often chase him round the house threatening to hug and kiss him! I think it’s going to be a good few years before he relents and lets me hug him again. Actually he does hug me very, very occasionally when I’ve made food that he particularly likes. Men’s hearts, stomachs, and all that!
What a hilarious mental image: Child1 being chased around the house with a hug-threat! And that a delicious meal is the trigger for a rare hug…
They’re gratifyingly easy to embarrass though aren’t they, at a certain age? I have a friend who threatens to dance in public when he urgently needs to get the upper hand. And was spotted boogying down the aisle in Homebase to the utter mortification of his children.
Thank you Clara! The teacher read your book today at D’s class and D. says some of her friends and the teacher loved it,too 🙂
Thank YOU, for a lovely sunny start to the week! Our conversation about D & D yesterday was especially touching. It’s strange that the sibling theme isn’t more common, or that it’s very often a bad-tempered one…
delighted to hear the book was enjoyed in school – and I hope the teacher realised that D is a special friend of Martha’s!
🙂
