Today I’ve been digging out some of my black and white drawings of all sort of things and having a look at them…
I’ve been thinking that, however delicious and attractive the colours in a picture are, for me it’s all in the drawing. It’s the bones and the heart of a picture, and where I can express so much of the character, vitality and detail.
Didn’t Henry Ford say about his cars ‘you can have any colour you want as long as it’s black?’
He had a point.
I love that tandem! Quite agree – the line’s the thing, the colour is a very marvellous extra…
Spoken like a true artist – thank you.
btw, I love your drawings of otters – they are perfect!
It certainly is all in the drawing! These are beautiful, so full of character and humour. What talent you have. Please can we see more?x
How very, very kind of you to say so! I only need to be asked once, and – watch out! – I’d LOVE to show more! x
