Inspired by the love poems featured in Saturday’s Guardian, our guinea pigs – living the quiet and refined life of two solitary spinsters – have written one for each other.
Strawberries are red,
Lettuce is green,
You’re the only guinea pig
I’ve ever seen.
that really made me laugh!!
Oh thank you! So relieved to hear you’re not embarrassed to know me…
That is touching and profound in a way that Dostoyevksy and Shakespeare could only dream of….It encapsulates both reality (strawberries are indeed red, and lettuce is indeed green), with existential angst – the essential loneliness of the lover in a world of limited possibilities……(Guinea Pig Review)
AT LAST – critical acclaim from The Guinea Pig review.
It is indeed a nuanced, many layered work; how reassuring to find that these particular poets have found their audience.
That made me giggle! Our guinea pigs are two boars, so do let me know if you ever start up an online guinea pig introduction service. They may be young men, but they are bother eminently respectable, although one of them (named Professor) has tendency to chew everything in sight.
They sound eminently suitable. Very encouraged to hear that one at least is well educated and qualified. It might prove overwhelming to actually meet… pen pals, perhaps? A signed photograph to go above the hutch?
How absolutely wonderful! Maybe someday there will be an anthology….
I will speak to their publishers immediately.
Any suggestions for a title??
I’m falling in love… I need to find a greengrocer’s immediately…
Ha! YES. It’s all about the vegetables over here…
