Martha loves her THINGS.
In Martha and the Bunny Brothers I Heart School she fills her new school bag with a lot – a LOT – of stuff (like this mer-bunny) to take with her on her first day at school. We all, and maybe children most especially, find our belongings very reassuring.
And there’s something extra charming about a small person giving their tiniest treasures the serious attention they deserve.
So today I’m at my desk, working on the drawings for I Heart Bedtime. In my imagination I’m in Martha’s bedroom, dreaming up all the special tiny things she keeps there. It’s lucky I’m a terrible hoarder – there’s always plenty of inspiration lying around!
I so agree. I had a little key ring I loved, and I used to hide a black and pink pig from a farmyard set in my sock when I went to school.
Yet another wonderful comment, Anne, proving with little details like that that you are a NATURAL writer for small people! X
Clara, you couldn’t have said anything more designed to cheer me up! Thank you so much!
