another behind-the-scenes peek at the story on my desk…

I’m having a lot of fun today, writing the story for Martha and the Bunny Brothers I Heart Bedtime. Thank you SO MUCH all you brilliant people who shared stories about the many ingenious (and sometimes maddening) tactics children use to avoid going to bed. I heard some REALLY good ones!

Hungry, thirsty, TOYS are hungry and thirsty…
cannot go sleep until pets do and pets cannot sleep until parents do (I’m loving that circular argument)…
all tucked in wrong – too hot, too cold…
too many toys already tucked in, so the only sleeping space is on the floor…
asking an intellectual question with proud parents who naturally are hoodwinked into further conversation…
and as for ‘organising a ‘sing like Elvis’ contest & getting their Dad involved’: I actually fell off my chair laughing. How can fiction possibly out-shine real life?

I know from I Heart School that those cheeky bunny brothers can lead Martha a very merry dance indeed, so now I have tons of new ideas…
